Elis Vermeulen

Visual artist Elis Vermeulen (1961, Amsterdam)

Elis Vermeulen and Cynthia Reynolds are both the founders of Feltunited.com, a portal for the international felt-artists community.

In recent years, Elis Vermeulen has focused on creating large installations, working primarily with organic materials. Wool, wood and rope have been the core materials, whilst the incorporation of ‘hard’ materials also punctuate her works.

Locations are often the ‘raison d’être’ for certain works, it is the space that inspires the piece.

Vermeulen makes her pieces by hand, sometimes with the help of assistants. Raw and or courser wools are her favourites to work with.
