Well, it’s hard to believe but our 2016 Felt United day is just a little over two months away. Yes, Saturday, October 1, 2016 is just around the corner. I hope that you are enjoying this year’s theme, ‘Naked Beauty – A Celebration of Felt and Fibre in Beautiful Varied Natural Colours’. If you haven’t yet begun to formulate your submission for this year’s theme, I’ve attached several fabulous images to whet your appetite and hope that you will find inspiration through these photos. And, the good news…You still have time to submit your image…..Just pull out that stash of undyed wool and let the creativity flow. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing your vision for this year’s theme.
When you have a minute, do head over to Facebook to see the submissions (from this year and year’s past) from Felt United members all around the world. We look forward to seeing many more photos on our Felt United Facebook page. We also love hearing how you might celebrate International Felt United Day (October 1). Once you’ve made your plans, please be sure to paste a link to your event on the Felt United Events page so that others in your area are made aware of what’s taking place.
Please remember when adding your photos to the Facebook page for this year’s theme, we’re accepting entries with felt created exclusively from fibre which has not been dyed; wool, alpaca, yak, camel, goat, dogs hair, whatever takes your fancy so long as it is the natural colour directly from the animal. For this challenge we also request that any embellishing fibres used are not dyed; silk, tencel, linen, ramie, hemp, milk fibre etc., etc.
We wish everyone all the best for Felt United 2016. Let’s make this a celebration of all that’s natural and an homage to the many wonderful sheep breeds and fibre producing animals that there are out there!
Here’s to creativity, worldwide friendships, and of course, our love of feltmaking. Looking forward to your continued 2016 Felt United interpretations.
Together, We Felt United,
Dawn Edwards and Nicola Brown
