Felt United 2014 … Two Months (and a tad) and Counting

Can you believe that Felt United day is just a little over two months away? Yes, Saturday, October 4, 2014 will be here before we know it! I hope that you have begun to formulate your thoughts and ideas as to how this year’s theme, Peace, might be represented in your felt work. We’ve heard from a few of you that this year’s theme is in some ways, more challenging….How to interpret such a subjective theme in your felt work. But, as always, you are more than rising to the occasion…in wonderful and thoughtful ways. I’ll share a few of the images of the ‘Peace’ related felt art that have already been submitted at the end of this post. And, if you wish to read more about those images and/or the artists who created them, just head over to the Felt United Facebook page.

We hope that you are being inspired by this year’s theme and we look forward to seeing more photos. We also love hearing how you might celebrate International Felt United Day (October 4). Have you begun to make plans yet? Perhaps an exhibition, a collaborative effort, or a gathering with other feltmakers to share your love of felting, or ????? The possibilities are endless. Once you make your plans, please be sure to paste a link to your event on the Felt United Events page so that others in your area are aware of what’s going on.

Please remember when adding your photos to the Facebook page, that if it’s not readily apparent as to how your submission relates to the ‘Peace’ theme, to add a short explanation.

Here’s to creativity, peace, worldwide friendships, and of course, feltmaking. Looking forward to your continued 2014 Felt United ‘Peace’ interpretations.

Together, We Felt United,

Dawn Edwards and Nicola Brown
